Xavier McDonald
Memorial Scholarship
The Xavier McDonald Memorial Scholarship was established in loving memory of Xavier John McDonald, whose joyful spirit and kind heart left a lasting impact on his family, friends, and the Westfield community.
Xavier was a student at Westfield Intermediate School and a sixth grader full of life, laughter, and love. He had a special gift for making others smile and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Xavier loved video games, adored his pug, Bruce—named after Bruce Wayne—and recently discovered a passion for music after joining the band and learning to play the trumpet.
Xavier passed away unexpectedly on November 13, 2022. In honor of his life, his family established this scholarship through the Westfield Education Foundation as a way to both remember Xavier and give back to the community that surrounded them with overwhelming love and support.
Funds raised through the Xavier McDonald Memorial Scholarship will support local students by providing household essentials, musical instruments and band equipment, educational scholarships, and other resources to help students succeed. Xavier often said, “I’m good,” a phrase that now serves as a reminder of his positive outlook and generous spirit. Through this scholarship, his family hopes to help ensure that—together—we are all good.

The Xavier McDonald Memorial Fund continues to create lasting impact for students and teachers across Westfield Washington Schools, honoring Xavier’s legacy through meaningful support that expands opportunity and access.
One of the fund’s most powerful contributions is helping students in need obtain band equipment, ensuring financial barriers never prevent a child from participating in music education. This support allows more students to experience the creativity, discipline, and confidence that come from being part of a music program.
The fund has also made a major investment in classroom learning through the donation of 30 electric and acoustic guitars, along with amplifiers valued at approximately $10,000. These instruments benefit music classes across the district, giving students hands-on experience, introducing new musical pathways, and enhancing instruction for teachers.
In addition to classroom support, the Xavier McDonald Memorial Scholarship awards two graduating seniors each year with financial assistance to pursue their future plans. These scholarships recognize students’ dedication and potential while continuing Xavier’s legacy of encouragement and opportunity.
Through instruments, resources, and scholarships, the Xavier McDonald Memorial Fund is strengthening the district community—empowering students, supporting educators, and inspiring the next generation.
